  • You are getting exactly what a 5x5 routine will get you. Consistent increase in strength with little to no gain in muscle mass. The point is maximizing strength, and it is working just fine with you. If you are only interested in gaining muscle mass, you need another protocol.

    can you elaborate?
    i am really getting into running, but i also just signed up for a weightlifting class at the community college because i'm scrawny and know nothing about lifting.

    and what do you guys like to eat before a run?
    i've been doing 2 boiled eggs with some carrot/apple/pear juice. i want to switch it up tho so i'm not eating eggs every day.

    i don't think neolithic man was all that healthy. his life expectancy was like 25 due to disease and malnutrition. it seems foolish to base your diet on people who ate whatever the fuck they could get their hands on because they had a lack of stable reliable foods. and our bodies have evolved since that era too.

    and don't extended fasts like that just fuck up your metabolism and cause your body to go into fat storage mode so that it will have reserves to live off of when you aren't eating for days at a time?

    what's wrong with just eating a sensible vegetarian diet every day? no meats, no fasts, no cleanses, no detox; just vegetables, grains, legumes, whiskey, and fruit?
