The trick is to focus on explosiveness, not slow body building type movements. Eg, you want to focus on powercleans rather than deadlifts, do clapping pushups rather than slow ones etc. Combine it with cardio so you have the endurance required.
As for the actual boxing, pay close attention to form. It's better to punch correctly from the start, then work on speed, rather than starting with fast but sloppy punches which you'll have to work much harder to change. Muscle memory and all that.
