This is not bad advice. More protein.
Also, write down all you do. Your entire routine, amounts of sets and reps, even the food you ate if you want. That way you can judge your progress in a more objective way.
If you're gonna box, read Convict Conditioning, The Naked Warrior, or something about calisthenics. They will give you strength and stamina, and you can do them at home to enforce your gym training.
