Doing rows for lat development is like benching for delt development. Sure, it works, but it should not be the primary focus of the exercise. Pullups/chinups or lat pulldowns are better for lat development, rows are fantastic for rear delt and general upper back development.
I just do barbell rows fully protracting my shoulder blades at the bottom.
