kipping is a gymnastics movement adopted by crossfit to help cycle pullups

a strict kip is a fantastic way for someone to progress into strict pullups as they require less brute strength

if the goal is back and bicep development, a chest to bar pullup will do just as much for you as a muscle up, but you'll be able to rep out a lot more chest-to-bars.

a muscle-up is just an explosive pullup into a deep dip, so the second half is useless for back and bicep development

also in answer to the second part, no it isnt necessarily bad, just depends on your goals.

if the goal is strength, then strict pullup and progress with a weight belt. if the goal is endurance or power, use a kip and progress with higher reps. there is such thing as an inefficient kip, though.

The issue with FIT is that it's a paperback only. Someone would have to destroy their copy of the book to be able to share it. I personally am not going to do that to my copy.
