I actually don't have Kilgore's FIT. As far as I know, my girlfriend is getting it for me for Christmas; however, it's a paperback. I don't have the patience to scan an entire book to make a pdf.

woman. why? does it make a difference?

it seems like every every day is fine if i just want to kind of maintain the same distance, but it seems like if i go every other day then i can push myself a bit more and increase my distance a bit. i would like to get up to ~8k and then just stay at that distance for a while. since i started about 6 weeks ago i have increased from 1k to 5k!

Burpees, bodyweight squats.

Also, go ham and try out different ways of pushups:
http://artofmanliness.com/2009/07/21/push-ups-exercises/

Crunches and bicycle crunches are some variations on situps. That way you can hit your upper abs and obliques more. Someone told me situps have some unnecessary movements in it that make it less effective than crunches. Not sure about that.

Get into a Gravitron. When at full speed, do some sit-ups. Roll around, and do some push-ups. Then stand up, and proceed to do a few squats, arms outstretched in front of you. That should do.

With milk you have to keep in mind two things:
1) It is insulin-promoting
2) It _may_ be cancer-promoting

So it's an excellent post-intense-workout substance to ingest, like whey protein, as long as you don't plan on doing fat-burning exercise afterward.

But it's better off moderated because it may not be the most extremely healthy protein. Personally I limit it to 20-30grams/day.

Extended fasts are (indirectly, often non-explictly-stated) based on the fact that your liver can take up to 24 hours or so of carb-less nourishment. The fewer carbs you eat, the less insulin you promote, and the more your body is forced to burn fat for fuel. As long as there are still carbs in your liver (~24 hours), you can keep your insulin down and promote fat-burning while your liver pumps glucose for your carb needs (loose terminology here).

It's only when your liver depletes (or comes close to depleting) liver glycogen that you start suffering negative effects of fasting.

(and there may be a period post-depletion where it is still useful to restrict carbs)

You shouldn't really run everyday, especially not if you're running on a hard surface (i.e; a footpath).
It is really bad for your joints, particularly your knees. Even with stretching and a good diet, it's not wise to run long distances everyday it's too much of a strain on your body. You should rest at least every second day.

That's what hills are for, run up, walk down. If you're smart you'll take the long route up and the short one down.

i have heard contrary opinions on the joint issue.
i have heard that running helps strengthen joints and i have heard that running damages joints.
is this dependent on where you are running (up and sown hills, on a treadmill, on the beach, etc.)?
i don't personally notice any joint pain from running, but i'm not overweight, don't run on concrete, and don't run incredible amounts.
